Ebb and Flow Top Golf Team in the Treaty 2 Territory Battle of the Nations 2018

Treaty 2 Territory – Gilbert Plains Golf Course in the heart of the Treaty 2 Territory and named after Gilbert Bone the guardian of the plains north of the mountains from the Mekis/Dauphin Lake/Riding Mountain Band played host to the first Annual Treaty 2 Territory Battle of the Nations Golf Championship. Organized by the First Nations in Treaty 2 Territory and host Nation Tootinaowaziibeeng Treaty Reserve. Treaty 2 Territory has just under 22 million acres and has twenty four (24) First Nations; 9 that made Treaty 2 – 21 August 1871,fifteen (15) more that live within the territory and five (5) more that border on the eastern side of Lake Winnipeg.

We congratulate this year’s best team in the Treaty 2 Territory; Ebb and Flow First Nation shooting 59. Lead by Master John North, Cecil Houle, Deon Houle and John Baptiste. Second Place determined with a count back with 59 was Lake Manitoba First Nation captained by Ron Missyabit, Dean Edwards, Tim Edwards and Shane Roulette. Third was Tootinaowaziibeeng Treaty Reserve headed by Chief Barry McKay, George McKay, Scott Lynxleg, Phillip Ironstand with 60. Congrats to all 16 teams from 12 Nations!

CP Winners; Treaty 2(4th Hole) Jared Hudson (Peguis), Kiniw (9th Hole) Brad Moosetail (Pine Creek), WRTC (Hole #14) Derek Straightnose (Keeseekoose), Kiniw(Hole #17) Tim Edwards (Lake MB). Kiniw Putting Contest went to Stan Mancheese and the Skins Winner after a 16 player shoot off went to Scott Lynxleg and Team Tootinaowaziibeeng. Winners of Kiniw Flight (1st Flight) 1st Place: Team Cote, 2nd Place: Team Pine Creek, 3rd Place: Team Tootinaowaziibeeng; Winners of Anishinaabe Agowidiiwinan Flight (2nd Flight) went to 1st Place: Team Peguis, 2nd Place: Team Sapotaweyak and 3rd Place: Team Keeseekoowenin. Great Job organizers, staff, host golf course and off course the teams and players. Next year’s event with be held in the eastern side of the Treaty 2 Territory next year.
