FNiT2T visits Pine Creek First Nation

April 9, 2019

Treaty 2 Territory – The beginning of this week marked a significant achievement for Pine Creek First Nation as they continue toward a community driven and Treaty based government.

Officials from First Nations in Treaty 2 Territory (FNiT2T) were invited by Pine Creek Chief Karen Batson to visit the community where leaders, community members and elders had an opportunity to see the latest developments on the structure, new-secretariats and law making process.
FNiT2T look forward to continuing with their mandate of inviting First Nations within the territory to ask questions and participate as we visit them in their home communities.

The Treaty 2 territory is unique with 15 other First Nations within the boundaries set in 1871 that includes Treaty 1, 4, 5 and Dakota First Nations. As the map shows, the territories overlap other traditional territories and the Pine Creek First Nation was interested and engaged in what FNiT2T presented.
