Treaty 2 Territory – Officials from First Nations in Treaty 2 Territory (FNiT2T) met today with the Reeve and Council of the RM of West Interlake in Eriksdale.
The purpose of the meeting was to present the RM with the official Treaty 2 Territory flag, the history/background of Treaty2, FNiT2T and other areas. Those include governance, protection of lands, resources and water. Treaty 2 officials also fielded questions on their relations with Canada, Manitoba and our governance structure as we move toward our goal.
The Land Water and Resource Council (LWRC) Chairperson Darren Mousseau, from Ebb and Flow and FNiT2T officials presented the Treaty 2 Territory flag to Reeve Arnthor Jonasson and Council in Eriksdale, Treaty 2 Territory.
“Today we’re here to work together to protect our mother (Mother Earth), we ask you join us. We are also here to move forward together through a protocol that will include us protecting our treaty, our lands, waters and resources”, said LWRC Chairperson Darren Mousseau.
