20th National Indigenous Peoples Day at Mackenzie School in the Treaty 2 territory

Treaty 2 Territory – Today, 20 June 2019 FNiT2T participated in this exciting event with the day starting with an opening Prayer by Elder Bev Harvey. Mountain View School Superintendent Donna Davidson provided Opening Remarks.  Joseph Maud, Director of Land and Water for FNiT2T gave an overview of the Government of Treaty 2 followed by a Treaty 2 Flag Presentation.  Vice-Principal Blaine Johnson accepted the Treaty 2 Flag on behalf of Mackenzie School.

Guest Speaker Kevin Chief spoke on the importance of this day, National Indigenous Peoples Day and about Reconciliation.  Entertainment was then provided by the Norman Chief Square Dance Group.  Workshops on beading, drumming, trapping, harvesting, pow wow dancing, bannock making with various traditional knowledge keepers leading the workshops.
