This was a fast paced week in Treaty 2 territory. On Wednesday, Jul 03,2019 I was in Skownan First Nation to attend the treaty day payout and ribbon cutting ceremony for the community hall. Leadership from Pinaymootang First Nation, Lake Manitoba First Nation, Tootinaowaziibeeng Treaty Reserve, AMC Grand Chief Dumas was also in attendance. The events were well attended by the community members.
On Thursday Jul 04, 2019 I was in the beautiful community of Ochichakosipi First Nation for a local governance committee meeting. Chief Eastman was in attendance and talked about the importance of community engagement and focusing on our Treaties. Open house dates were discussed for the community in Sept 2019. Robert Lavallee local governance coordinator presented terms of reference to the committee members in attendance. Robert will set the next meeting dates for the committee and open house.
