August 9, 2019

Treaty 2 Territory – The Care and Protection of the Natural World Circle continues to experience challenges in regards to establishing effective and consistent external relations ensuring consultation, participation, monitoring and protection of the lands and resources takes place in the Treaty 2 territory.

Most recent, the Land, Water and Resource Council met on June 18, 2019 to discuss the current circumstances and action required, it has been recommended that a protocol be established regarding the Care and Protection of the Natural World within and adjacent to Treaty 2 Territory.

It was resolved through resolution 2019-0807-003 moved by Chief Norman Bone, Keeseekoowenin First Nation and seconded by Chief Wayne Desjarlais, Ebb and Flow First Nation that the FNT2T Governing Council direct the Care and Protection of the Natural World Circle to carry out necessary actions in order to establish consistent and effective relations concerning lands and resources care and protection internally and externally.

Moving forward protocols with other governments such as Manitoba and Canada will be required.  The CPNW Circle is in good hands with the recent addition of Ron Missyabit as the new Circle Keeper (Director) and the current work Joseph Maud has been doing.
