Major steps forward for the Government of First Nations in Treaty 2 Territory regarding a Housing Strategy

Treaty 2 Territory – Shelter and infrastructure is an Inherent and Treaty right of our people and Nations within the Treaty 2 Territory. As human beings we require adequate shelter and infrastructure in order to pursue a good life. 

The Government of FNT2T feel with historical impacts and colonization, there is a continuation of housing shortages which results in overcrowding, multiple issues and challenges with health and family unity.

The past few months a strategy has been put together to potentially address this.  So today, the Government of FNT2T through resolution 2019-08-07-005 moved by Chief David Ledoux, Gambler First Nation and seconded by Chief Norman Bone, Keeseekoowenin Ojibway Nation will be putting forward a housing strategy for and within the territorial lands of Treaty 2 territory Nations. The FNT2T will also include engagement and implementation of the FNT2T housing strategy seeking a partnership with the National Housing Strategy of Canada.
