September 9, 2019

Treaty 2 Territory – The Government of FNT2T met with the Council of Little Saskatchewan Anishinaabe Nation today to fill them in on the next steps regarding the resolutions from the Grand Council.  With nine (9) resolutions, there is a very aggressive strategy in place to make sure they are implemented and benefiting of our Local Nations in the territory. One in particular is the creation of regional offices which will be discussed this week with the current service providers in the territory.

Environmental and treaty lands discussions also was on the agenda.  Little Saskatchewan talked about the waste disposal site they are hoping to create for their Nation.  Discussions about the lands in the territory was a heavy topic and LSFN is giving the FNT2T Government their full support toward such an aggressive strategy on getting all land back and compensated for it in the territory.

“What we are doing as First Nations in Treaty 2 Territory is great work and this is very important for our children and their children to have the protection of our inherent rights and treaty rights.  These lands are ours and we need to protect them”, said Chief Shorting.

After the meeting Chief Hector was presented with a FNT2T/LSFN vest.
