FNT2T Welcomes Life Long Learning Keeper

September 28, 2019

Treaty 2 Territory – Life Long Learning has brought on a new staff member, Donna Beyer. She is from Peguis First Nation with maternal roots in Fisher River Cree Nation. She has a Masters degree in Indigenous Studies, has worked as an instructor with most post-secondary institutions in Manitoba, and as a First Nations Studies facilitator for the past three years serving multiple First Nations schools. Donna is also a published writer.

Since starting, Donna has been getting familiar with the history, work, and vision of the FNT2T in the area of education. She and the LLL Research Assistant have been collaborating on an ongoing list of references that will be required to continue the great work of the FNT2T. Both LLL Circle Keeper and research assistant will continue their familiarization as well as begin planning for future engagement sessions with member Nations.

LLL is looking at creating a centralized information port for member First Nations to expedite the work and the collaboration in the area of education. LLL Circle Keeper and Research Assistant will be working with the Local Nation Helpers to compile this information port.

Both positions will soon meet with the LLL committee to discuss next steps in each of the areas of the LLL work plan. The next few weeks make for exciting ones as LLL begin reaching out to support the great work taking place within membership of the First Nations in Treaty 2 Territory.
