Executive Council mets to move new admin and operations structure forward – 23 October 2019

October 24, 2019

Treaty 2 Territory – The Executive Council met on Wednesday 23 October 2019.  Grand Chief Eugene Eastman, Chief of O-Chi-Chak-Ko-Sipi opened the meeting with a prayer and presentation of sweat grass, sage and tobacco to the Executive Council members.

He stated the emergency measures has been hard on everyone the past few weeks however the process of creating a solid Government of FNT2T continues.  “Staff have been working really hard to keep FNT2T going during this process”, said Grand Chief Eastman.

It was discussed about administration; we are designed to move the agenda and workplans forward.  “Our goal is to achieve our workplans made by all staff involved and move our tasks forward”.

This year’s FNT2T workplan clearly identifies working on the Canada table relations, constitutional development, unfinished treaty business, Nation building and building a structure that is designed to take back the territory from settler governments.

During the meeting a motion was put forward to support the new structure creating a solid administration, operations and corporate structure.  This move has been worked on since 25 June 2019 where the Executive Council talked about staying out of administration and keeping politics away from operations.

What this structure means is the sanctioning and support of having the following staff moving each area forward; Dianna Murphy – Finance/Admin Keeper, Ryan Sutherland – Corporations Keeper and Allen Sutherland – Operations Keeper.

The Executive Council supported the structure and less pressure on all staff involved. Grand Chief Eastman finished the meeting by saying that FNT2T must stay the course.
