FNT2T Hosts Celebration Round Dance at Rogers Hometown Hockey

Treaty 2 Territory – November 16, 2019. The First Nations in Treaty 2 Territory hosted a Round Dance during the Rogers Hometown Hockey tour stop in Dauphin, MB on Saturday, November 16th, 2019. The Round Dance was a celebration of the territory through sports. FNT2T Lead Keeper Boh Kubrakovich kicked off the Round Dance event with a history of First Nations in Treaty 2 Territory and presented a women’s traditional ribbon skirt to Rogers Hometown Hockey Host Tara Slone, traditional sweetgrass bundle to the Rogers Hometown Hockey Crew, followed with a prayer by Wallace Ahmo of Ochichakkosipi First Nation. Communications Keeper Ray Mousseau and Regional Keeper Scott Lynxleg conducted the Round Dance. The sound of the drum and powerful vocals came from the “North Wolf Ojibwe” singers of Ebb and Flow First Nation, led by Darren Thompson and John Houle.
