“Hello tansi aneen. My name is Yolanda Thompson , i would like to introduce myself. I work for Dauphin River First Nation and Treaty 2 Government. I am the spokes person and liaison for both Treaty 2 and my home community of Dauphin River . I am very excited to work for them, and to work for the future and for the next generation . Why I chose to take this path was to learn and explore the past present and future . We are working on making the laws and the constitution and gathering information from the community. The knowledge holders have so much history about the communities the rivers and islands the surrounding communities in our the Interlake region. I enjoy hearing their stories , and we are working on putting a timeline together. So the next generation will say when they see the timeline “hey that’s my grandparents or great grandparents, uncle, aunty, friend, cousin or parents.” I’m so enthusiastic on putting together the history timeline together with the help of the knowledge holders of Dauphin River First Nation community.” – Yolanda Thompson, Dauphin River First Nation
