Introductory Anishinaabemowin for FNT2T Youth

Treaty 2 Territory – The First Nations in Treaty 2 Territory set to begin Anishinaabemowin sessions in each Nation in January 2020. On Saturday, December 21st, 2019, the FNT2T will host a youth forum at the FNT2T Government Building. The youth forum is a recommendation from the Knowledge Council and will focus on History and Language. 250 youth participants from each nation will be provided with an introduction to the Ojibwe language, guiding from the Knowledge Council. Beginning in January 2020, each Nation will host 3 language session. The sessions will be brought in to the schools and participants will be from Grades 6-8. The Knowledge Council will guide the youth through our language sessions. The sessions will have daily themes, dialogue, and engaging with the elders, Miigwetch!

Sage of Ebb and Flow First Nation visits Pinaymootang First Nation. Sage noticed the eagle and requested a photo with ‘Migizi’. Sage is one of many youth learning Anishinaabemowin, and practices his language on a daily basis.
