Pinaymootang junior hockey player ready for “Hockey Night in Treaty 2 Territory”

December 19, 2019

Treaty 2 Territory – I was happy to meet Nakodan Greyeyes, a member of Pinaymootang First Nation and leading scorer of the Dauphin Kings of the Manitoba Junior Hockey League. Nakodan participated in a history learning ceremony called the Blanket Exercise. Nakodan and the entire team of the Dauphin Kings learned the history of the indigenous peoples. Phyllis Racette of the Ebb and Flow First Nation facilitated the ceremony. It was a great learning experience for the young men. Members of the Knowledge council also took part with the players.

Nakodan and the players are looking forward to Saturday December 21, 2019 when they host the Waywayseecappo Wolverines for “Hockey Night in Treaty 2 Territory”.  The Kings players encourage the youth to come out on Saturday and take in the Youth Forum that will be part of the activities during the day. It will be a great day in Treaty 2 Territory!
