Treaty 2 Territory – Anishinaabemowin language sessions will begin on January 28, 2020 in Ebb and Flow First Nation, followed by all Nations within the FNT2T. Communications & Language Keeper Ray Mousseau and Local Nation Helper Marlene Davis met with Ebb and Flow School Principals Kathleen Morrisseau and Glen McGauley on Thursday, January 9th, 2020 to proceed with Anishinaabemowin for students in Grades 6, 7, and 8. The FNT2T will host 4 full-day language sessions in each Nation of the FNT2T. The sessions will be conducted by 4 fluent Anishinaabemowin keepers of each Nation. The language sessions are a recommendation by the Youth Council and Knowledge Council to share the language with everyone in the FNT2T. Following the completion of the Anishinaabemowin sessions in each Nation, the FNT2T will plan out the next phase of Anishinaabemowin for the summer of 2020.
The 2020 Winter Games planning is in full swing! Sports and Recreation Keeper Lana Racette and Winter Games Committee Member Ray Mousseau will be attending the schools in each Nation by Friday, January 17th, 2020 to discuss participation of students from the ages of 12 – 17 years old, with the principals. Each Nation is encouraged to send 20 – 30 participants to compete in sporting events of Hockey, Badminton, Snowshoeing, and Basketball. The Winter Games will be an inclusive event where all participants will be combined in to 4 teams with other athletes from other Nations. The 4 teams in each category are a representation of the 4 directions of the Medicine Wheel. Categories will include male, female, and coed, aged 12-14 years old & aged 15-17 year old.
