Ebb and Flow…a Nation in motion

January 10, 2020

The beginning of a new year brings a great deal of excitement with respect to my role as Nation Helper for Ebb and Flow. In addition to attending Constitutional Development training at the Life Long Learning Lodge in Dauphin, I have been busy with reviewing and researching project proposals. The training that I’ve been attending with Allen Sutherland is some of the most influential professional development I’ve ever received. Allen’s immense knowledge as a historian and the tools that he uses to guide us in understanding the origination of the treaties, is providing us with so much confidence in our ability to help our move our Nation’s membership forward. From here, we are able to come back to our Nation and work with our membership on the development of our Nation’s constitution. Collectively, we are on such an inspiring path to reclaiming our inherent rights as Anishinaabe people.

It’s an exciting time for our Nation as we will be hosting Language Sessions (with FNT2T Communications Keeper, Ray Mousseau) in partnership with our school’s students in Grades 5 to 8 in the upcoming weeks. Additionally we are working with our school to recruit youth to attend and participate in the FNT2T Winter Games taking place in Pinaymootang in February. These kind of recreation opportunities are so important as we strive to to keep our young people on a healthy path; avoiding diabetes and drug addiction.

I invite you to follow our Nation Facebook page titled “Engaging Ebb & Flow” where we try our best to engage and inspire our membership while promoting events happening in our Nation and in the Treaty 2 Territory.

Take care. Miigwech. Until next time………
