Keeseekoowenin First Nation to participate in FNT2T Language Sessions and 2020 Winter Games

Treaty 2 Territory – Keeseekoowenin First Nation members and the FNT2T met on Friday, January 17th, 2020. Communications Keeper Ray Mousseau and Sports and Recreation Keeper Lana Racette met Keeseekoowenin School administration, leadership, and elders to discuss the plans moving forward with Anishinaabemowin and the participation in the 2020 Winter Games. Dates will be finalized within the coming weeks for the sessions which will be host to students in grades 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8 at the school.

Keeseekoowenin First Nation will be sending participants to the 2020 Winter Games. Rodney Bone who is the high school students coordinator will work closely with high School students. Rodney will ensure those students who attend school outside their nation have an opportunity to participate in the games.

Chief Norman Bone closed off the meeting with the importance of our language. Chief Bone is excited to have the FNT2T bring in the language sessions to his community and to have youth members participate in the 2020 Winter Games.
