Nation-Based Sovereign-Based Government

Ebb & Flow Onankonehkawin Committee Inaugurate

January 20, 2020

Ebb and Flow First Nation continues to progress in terms of housing and other infrastructure projects. Recently, with the assistance of FNT2T Corporations Helper, and with the support of Band Council Resolutions, we were able to submit some applications to the “Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program”. We are hoping to be successful as we work towards providing additional recreation and culture facilities for our Nation.

In mid January, the Ebb & Flow First Nation Onankonehkawin Committee met to begin their journey in developing our Nation’s first ever Constitution. Regrets were sent from our Elders due to the extreme cold weather. The group (which represents different family clans in our Nation, and includes both Elders and Youth) will be meeting bi-weekly to continue to draft our Nation’s Constitution. Community Open Houses will also be held with our membership (on & off reserve) to share our progress & invite recommendations. On January 28th & January 30th as well as February 4th & February 6th, FNT2T will be present in our Nation to host language sessions for students in grades 6, 7, and 8. 4 Community Elders will be present to teach and share the language.

From February 26th to 29th, 2020 we will be taking approximately 30 youth to Pinaymootang First Nation to engage in the FNT2T Winter Games. Youth will participate in Badminton, Basketball, Hockey, and Snow Shoeing; however there will be no Nation to Nation competition as the intent is to build friendship between Youth in our Nations. We are looking forward to this first annual event.

In the meantime, we continue to invite you to follow our Facebook Page titled “Engaging Ebb and Flow” where we try to bring hope and inspire our membership while also sharing our community resources & events.

Let us continue to elevate one another, and work together to take care of our Elders and Youth.

Miigwech. Until text time….
