Lake St. Martin First Nation to participate in Language Sessions and 2020 Winter Games

Treaty 2 Territory – Lake St. Martin First Nation intends on sending 20-30 youth participants to the 2020 Winter Games in February. Communications Keeper met with School administration including phys ed teacher Alvin North, and Elder/Local Nation Helper Clarence Morse. Alvin North, originally from Cross Lake Cree Nation, is excited to have his students take part in the inaugural 2020 Winter Games. Mr. North plans on working with interested students in their respective sports.

While at the Lake St. Martin First Nation School, elders of the community were gathered in the culture room to put together land-based teachings for the students. Clarence Morse said it’s a great opportunity for the elders to pass on knowledge to the students.
