February 7, 2020

Treaty 2 Territory – The Local Nation Helpers continued their training session on Feb 04 & 05,2020 at the Life Long Learning Lodge in Dauphin, Mb. This session was on constitutional development and the focus was education in our communities and how to develop local education laws/acts. Guest speaker Leonard Linklater of the NCN Cree Nation addressed the Local Nation Helpers on how NCN developed and ratified their own local constitution, election, and membership laws. The NCN constitution is online for viewing and can be used as a guide in other first nations developing their own local laws. On the second day FNT2T Circle Keeper Donna Beyer gave a presentation on education and how FNT2T is engaging and supporting the first nations in moving forward in developing local education policies and acts. The session will give the Local Nation Helpers insight and guidance in working with first nations in treaty 2 territory.
