Update on our Nations: COVID-19

Treaty 2 Territory – Monday, March 23, 2020, today our Nations continue to take precautions in the spread on COVID-19. Each Nation has set out their own plan set out to prevent the virus from entering their Nations:

Ochichakkosipi First Nation – Access points set up in the Nation. Non-members and Off-reserve members will be redirected, and not allowed to enter. Community members are to stay home. Members in the community must practice social distancing. Employees of the OCC will be allowed to enter. Logs will be recorded. Members may leave the community ONLY for supplies or important medical appointments.

Ebb and Flow First Nation – Restaurant, VLTs, Smoke-shop are closed until further notice. Outside visitors are restricted to entering the community.Members in the community must practice social distancing. Delivery trucks will be allowed to enter. Logs will be recorded. Members may leave the community ONLY for supplies or important medical appointments.

Pinaymootang First Nation – Pinaymootang Health is the contact in the community. Social distancing is being exercised in the community. Members are to avoid travel.

Dauphin River – Chief and Council and the people decided to have a lockdown in Dauphin River by the end of the road. 6 security was selected 24 hrs, 8 hrs a shift to monitor who’s coming in and out so we can trace if there was a carrier. 4 ladies were selected to work and clean cabins for isolation and monitor, across the river away from community. Woodstoves and generator will be set up, because of no power line going to the cabins. I.R.T.C. tribal council have cleaning supplies for per house, medical van will be picking them up for the community. Lawrence Letander Local RCMP updates on Facebook Dauphin River news and supervisor for the security, some people are looking for cedar around our area, and some tried it by boiling it and the they felt better after they breathed it in. The elders used to say it fights any cold and flu symptoms, if u put on the wood stove and if you don’t have a wood stove you can boil it and let it steam the house to kill the germs. Medical van is shutdown till further notice only pickups for prescriptions and supplies. Other then everyone is isolated themselves at home and limited visitors. Dauphin River health has nurse coming out every day from 12-6. Dauphin River School is shut down for 3 weeks till further notice.
