Treaty 2 Territory – We hope your Nations are all safe at this time of the corona 19 virus. We have been in close contact with Canada and ISC over the week and stressed the need for full co-operation for support for our First Nations in Treaty 2 Territory. We are facing many issues including financially.
As u have seen from our emails to our Local Nations, Canada have made many concessions to make it easier for our Local Nation Govt’s. We have discussed with the Royal Bank and other banks about current loans and they have a deferred payment program where only interest is expected to be paid and a 6 month deferral of payments on loans. We urge you to contact your financial institution to ask about deferred payment programs.
We have asked Health Canada how they intend to support us on all levels and I’m awaiting for a reply from the Director Pam Smith.
