Spawning season begins in Treaty 2 Territory

April 25, 2020

Treaty 2 Territory – As the snow has almost melted away, the spawning season begins in the treaty 2 territory. First Nations people have been fishing for many generations and is a way of life. Along with this way of life is also being responsible and respectful in managing the fish stock in our waters. At this time fish are coming up river to spawn. Our elders have taught us to be respectful when harvesting fish and make sure that there is fish for the future generations. These teachings have to be passed down to the children and grandchildren so they can grow up being respectful to the fish and all wildlife here on Mother earth. Please be responsible and respectful in the spawning season. Look for signs around the surrounding areas for fish management information.
