Treaty 2 Territory – On June 18, 2020 I was in my home community of Tootinaowaziibeeng Treaty Reserve. Like most first nations in the territory, the re-opening of community buildings and services to the members is a different one than before Covid 19. During my visit I met with elders to see how they were adapting to the new precautions for the pandemic. I talked with elder Norris Bell who is the janitor at the Tootinaowaziibeeng Health Centre. He said he was working through the pandemic and it was different now as compared to 3 months ago.
I was invited by the health staff to have some fresh fried pickerel that was cooked by elder Gina Mckay, the fish was awesome. The health department held a Father’s Day BBQ for all the fathers in the community on June 19, 2020. FNT2T government would like to thank all the community members and leadership in their efforts to keep their community safe.
