Waywayseecappo celebrates grand opening of economic development venture

Treaty 2 Territory – FNT2T Regional Office Dauphin was on hand for the grand opening ceremony for the Waywayseecappo Gas Bar located on Highway 10, about 2 km north of Brandon, Mb. Community members came by bus from Waywayseecappo to see the ribbon cutting ceremony and speeches by leadership. It was a historic day for the community of Waywayseecappo as they begin to develop land purchased north of Brandon a few years back. Plans for the property include office space, hotel, vlts, bingo hall plus many more economic developments in the future. Chief Murray Clearsky spoke to the people in attendance and explained the hard work put in by leadership and staff to complete this project for the members of Waywayseecappo. Council members of Waywayseecappo also addressed the members with their thoughts on the journey of completing this project. An opening prayer and drum song was performed as flags were raised in front of the gas bar. Dennis Whitebird of AMC, SCO Grand Chief Jerry Daniels, Member of Parliament Brad Mazier were also in attendance. FNT2T government would like to congratulate the community and leadership of Waywayseecappo on this positive step and continued development in the future. It was a great day for Waywayseecappo.
