Treaty 2 Territory – It has been a busy time for the community of Tootinaowaziibeeng over the last few weeks. There was a graduation of 5 youth from the Life Skills training held at the cultural centre on July 31, 2020. Ruth Murdock was the facilitator for the training session which ran for the last 2 weeks in July. A memorial service was held for former chief of Tootinaowaziibeeng Dennis Cameron at the school on August 10, 2020. There was a networking and information meeting held at the health boardroom on Aug 11, 2020. The focus of the meeting was plans for a treatment centre for the community, which is dealing with drug and alcohol addictions. MKO Emergency Response Team were also in the community and in attendance at the meeting. A traditional men’s gathering is also on Aug 11 and 12, 2020 in the community. Anthony Mintuck a young man from the community was the main organizer for this event. Traditional activities like drum making , meat drying and story telling were part of the 2 day event. There will be a Teddy Bear picnic set for Aug 13,2020 for the young children of the community.
