Keeseekoowenin hosts the FNT2T Knowledge Council

Treaty 2 Territory – Keeseekoowenin hosted the FNT2T Knowledge Council at the beautiful Anishinabe Sharing Lodge in Wasagaming on August 12, 2020. Wallace Ahmo of Ochichakosipi gave the opening prayer for the gathering. Agenda items that were discussed were Life Long Learning, Anishinaabemowin, Restorative Peacemaking.

The draft governance handbook was presented to each knowledge keeper for review and will discuss at the next gathering. Language and Peacemaking were two of the main items that the knowledge council had great discussion on. Land based education and language camps in each community was an idea that that council would like to see be developed. Having their own way of restorative and peacekeeping in their communities with their own members being part of the team. Chief Cameron Catcheway from Skownan, portfolio holder of Restorative Peacemaking(formerly known as Justice and Peacekeeping) was in attendance and gave his support of the Knowledge Council.

The FNT2T Knowledge Council is made up of a representative from each of the 11 Local Nations from the FNT2T government. The Knowledge council meet regularly to give guidance and support to the other councils.
