September 8, 2020

Treaty 2 Territory –  On Thursday September 03,2020, FNT2T Knowledge Council, staff and Life Long Learning Lodge participated in a day of medicine picking and learning at beautiful Lake Audy in the Riding Mountian National Park. Allen Sutherland, Keeper of the Life Long Learning Lodge gave a presentation on history and some medicines.

The Knowledge Council and staff learned the meaning and uses of certain medicines that were and are still used by the Anishinaabe people in the Treaty 2 Territory. Sage was one of the medicines that was discussed and picked in the near by bison enclosure. Lake Audy has been a place where sage has been harvested for many generations and continues to be used by all Anishinaabe people for ceremonies and prayer.

It was a great day for harvesting and giving thanks for the gift of medicines from mother earth.
