Treaty 2 Territory – The primary purpose of the Special Project Keeper (SPK) is to assist Local Nations with restoring their Ancestral and Inherent Rights to Govern in a contemporary and diverse manner. The SPK will act as a liaison, support in building /bridging communication links and encouraging engagement with Local Nations, FNT2T and other governments and agencies.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
- Works with the Regional Office Keeper to ensure all tasks and objectives are fulfilled with all 7 circles;
- Establishes, organizes, coordinates, and facilitates Internal and External Relations;
- Assist each Local Nations communications;
- Supports and assists the Local Nations with engagement strategies and meetings;
- Gathers data locally to identify and understand each Local Nations’ traditional knowledge system;
- Assist in the creation of educational material relating to Inherent Rights and Relationships;
- Promotes awareness and presents on the history of Treaty 2 and FNT2T in the territory;
- Coordinates with Local Nation Helpers on yearly workplan development and the tasks set out for communications;
- Promote awareness and presentations on the history of Treaty 2 and FNT2T to towns, rural municipalities, and schools within the territory;
- Protection of communication including intellectual property;
- Focuses on communication strategy which includes website development, maintenance and blogging;
- Sets up capacity building and training through the Life Long Learning Lodge;
- Comprehensive nation and strategic planning;
- Works with the Youth Council to achieve objectives for Sports and Recreation events and activities throughout the year; and
- Other duties as assigned.
COMPETENCIES AND QUALIFICATIONS
The Special Project Keeper must possess the following skills and attributes:
- Experience in communications, project management and development;
- Knowledge of current events, political factors and issues;
- Excellent analytical skills, as well as a demonstrated ability to express ideas, negotiate and communicate effectively; and the ability to analyze critically and suggest an appropriate means of action;
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills and ability to work as a team player to effectively interact with elected officials, staff, media, service providers, and government agencies;
- Exceptional organizational and time‐management skills and ability to prioritize multiple tasks to meet strict deadlines;
- Ability to blog, story tell and report on meetings and gathering;
- Knowledge of Anishinaabe language and understanding of culture and tradition an asset;
- Valid Class 5 driver’s licence and own vehicle; and
- Maintain confidentiality with a high level of accuracy regarding information.
