FNT2T Regional Office Dauphin attends funding information session for better internet service

December 14, 2020

Treaty 2 Territory – FNT2T Regional Office Dauphin attended a Microsoft Teams online meeting on December 11,2020 hosted by Parkland Community Futures. The presentation was on internet/broadband services in the area and in particularly a program called “Universal Broadband Fund”. The presentation was put on by Innovations, Services and Economic Development of Canada. The presentation was on how organizations/businesses can access this fund for the development of improved internet service to all of Canada and Manitoba, including the isolated communities and nations. There are certain funds that are directed at Anishinaabe nations in the area to access for developing and forming partnerships to provide faster internet service. This will improve communications in the case of emergencies such as fires, floods, power outages and bad weather. There was also a question and answer session for all participants. There can be more information on this fund at the following link.
