Treaty 2 Territory – On Thursday January 07,2021 Regional Office Dauphin attended a zoom presentation on an application to the Universal Broadband Fund hosted by Charlene Gulak of Parkland Community Futures. Attendees for the presentation included MP Dan Mazier, MLA Brad Michaleski, a repesentative from Tootinaowaziibeeng Treaty Reserve, Mountian View School Division,municipal leaders and other agencies from the Parkland area.
This application to the UBF fund is the first phase in getting better internet service to all areas of the Parkland. Tootinaowaziibeeng will be affected in the Phase 1 application called Rapid Response which will be an upgrade in download speed for all households in the upgraded area. Phase 2 will be the installation of fibre to all areas of the Parkland which would include Skownan, Ochichakosipi. Internet is a vital source of communication and learning in this new era of Covid 19. FNT2T will continue to work with all organizations and nations to move this initiative forward.
