Regional Office meets with Ochichakosipi leadership to continue engagement and nation development

March 4, 2021

Treaty 2 Territory – Regional Office Dauphin met with Ochichakosipi leadership and Local Nation Helper Louie (Tommy) Hunter in Ochichakosipi First Nation on March 3, 2021. This meeting was to give an update to chief and council on the progress and engagement of Ochichakosipi members in developing/ratifying the local constitution for Ochichakosipi. Due to the Covid pandemic that has been affecting everyone, it has affected the engagement of the members of each nation. Hard copies of surveys of the constitution for members to give input on how they would like to see their laws developed.

Over the coming months, hopefully with lighter restrictions, engagement and information sessions will be set up in the nation for members to attend and participate. It is important to get input from the members of each nation on how they would like to govern their nation. Please look for posters and online information on engagement and take the time to fill out a survey to have your ideas included in the development of the local laws of Ochichakosipi. FNT2T Regional Office will continue to work with leadership and the members of Ochichakosipi.
