Treaty 2 Territory – With the current pandemic restricting our ability to gather for capacity building purposes, the Government of FNT2T Keepers and Helpers have resumed virtual gatherings in an effort to continue learning while progressing with our law development.
Once again, we were provided the honour to sit and learn from Knowledge Keeper, Sol Sanderson in an online session via our MS Teams platform.
Today’s capacity building session focused on Fiscal Relations and Social Safety Nets. Sol generously delivered his expertise of the Federal/Indian Nations Social Safety Net Transition Process. As always, Sol shared his immeasurable wisdom with our team, and praised the work that FNT2T is doing with law development, and our engagement processes with our local Nations.
As an expert in Indigenous governance, inherent Aboriginal rights, treaty rights, and the constitutional framework governing Canada’s relationship with Aboriginal peoples, and his 55 years of involvement in Aboriginal politics in Canada, Sol has a library of knowledge on federal policy, treaties, and governance structure. Our Keepers and Helpers continue to be inspired by Sol, and look forward to future learning opportunities with him as a mentor and Knowledge Keeper. Miigwech Solomon for your willingness to share, guide, and mentor us.
