FNT2T remember MMIWG in the treaty 2 territory

May 5, 2021

Treaty 2 Territory – I was in the nation of Tootinoawaziibeeng on Tuesday May 04,2021 to distribute and meet with some of the staff of Chief Clifford Lynxleg Anishanabe School. FNT2T gave red beaded dress pins to the staff to bring awareness to the MMIWG and the day of May 5, 2021, which is recognized as the day to remember the Missing and Murdered Women and Girls that have gone missing over the last decades in Canada. I met with Principal Paulette Oulette and Alice Ironstand Vice principal along with Language Knowledge Keeper Lillian Lynxleg who teaches the language to the children at the school. The school is open on Tuesdays and Thursdays to staff. There are no children in the school at the present time.

There were online events for viewing and participation for remembering the missing women and girls. Throughout the treaty 2 territory organizations and nations wore red shirts, red dress pins and sang songs for those that went missing and were murdered. Through these events and ceremonies awareness and healing is for those who lost loved ones. Everyone is affected by the loss of these beautiful people. Please say a prayer for those still missing and hope they come home.
