FNT2T continuing to engage nations safely online to develop local laws

May 10, 2021

Treaty 2 Territory – It has been a busy time at FNT2T government. As Internal/External Keeper, I have attended various council meetings over the past few weeks, which include the Governing Council, Youth Council, Natural World, Women’s Council and Knowledge Keepers meeting which have been held online due to the pandemic. Child Families and Nation/Peacemaking are in the process of engaging local nation members on law development. These are also being done by Zoom online. The nations of Dauphin River and Ebb Flow have had one online engagement as of this date. There will be more in the nations, please look for notifications. Darlene Woodhouse Internal/External Helper of Pinaymootang and myself are helping with engagement in the nations.

I have also been attending online meetings with Community Futures, Immigration services, and the local schools in the area. There will be informational sessions for the schools and a ceremony in June recognizing the signing of the Treaty 2 document marking the 150 th year. Look for upcoming notifications on engagements and updates on our website. Please practice Covid protocols and stay safe.
