Treaty 2 Territory – The FNT2T Youth Council is hosting a series of Virtual Youth Circles (Zoom) and Life Long Learning will be taking part in the gathering scheduled for June 24th.
It can be a difficult time for many young people right now as we face a global pandemic; and most recently, another lockdown that includes a return to remote learning for many students. It isn’t easy to attend school, virtually. Many students (and teachers) prefer to be at school, physically. For its session on June 24th, Life Long Learning is hoping to create a short agenda that will consist of some investigative fun for young participants. Facilitator speaking will be kept to a minimum as focus will be on virtual online activities such interactive (timed) quiz shows, word cloud, visuals, scavenger hunt, and videos.
The FNT2T Youth Council is hosting the youth gathering and they requested that Life Long Learning take part in one session that focuses on the importance of First Nations youth (re)learning history. We will look at pictures of people and places to check if we know who or what they are, watch a video to investigate for particular details, and do some quick-timed online research. Participants will also get a chance to share knowledge or a story with the group.
There will be goodies and prizes for participants. And if we have time, we’ll take a look at and share some favourite Indigenous social media stars and platforms because we know that Instagram and Tiktok are filled with amazing Indigenous art, voices, comedy, and design! To sign up, you can email: Marlene.Davis@fnt2t.com or Savannah.Stagg@fnt2t.com. We hope to see you on June 24th at 1pm to have some laughs and share some stories together.
Miigwetch! Renew and revitalize.
