FNT2T meets with Canada to discuss Peacekeeping in the territory

June 15, 2021

Treaty 2 Territory – FNT2T government keepers met with Canada representatives on Tuesday June 15, 2021. Celine Henry and Dave Singh were the representatives at the meeting for Canada Table. Peacekeeping was the main topic of discussion at today’s meeting. Chantel Barker of the FNT2T Peacekeeping Circle presented an update on the FNT2T peacekeeping law and structure. Canada reps asked questions to clarify and understand the process FNT2T is doing in law development in the territory. Once the laws have been presented to all FNT2T councils and passed, they will then go to the Grand Council Gathering for ratification by all the members in attendance, set for August 24-25,2021 at Eagle Island in Ebb Flow Nation.

These meetings with Canada are held on a regular basis with each party updating each other on the progress of each meeting and the AIP (Agreement in Principle) to be signed once the final laws and structures have been developed and ratified by the nations. The next Canada Table meeting is scheduled for July 06,2021.
