FNT2T Women’s Council review the process and law development of CFN Mino Ombigii’aa

Treaty 2 Territory – On Wednesday June 16, 2021, the FNT2T Women’s Council met online to discuss Children, Families and Nation law development. This is a special gathering to review the Children, Family and Nation draft law.  An opening prayer was done for a good meeting. Representatives from Dauphin River, Gambler, Lake St. Martin, Little Saskatchewan, Keeseekoowenin, Tootinaowaziibeeng, Pinaymootang and Skownan were in attendance for the gathering of the Women Council.

CFN Legal Desiree Dorian gave the council and update on the process and framework for the Children, Families and Nation law. The draft process and framework for the Children, Families and Nation draft law was presented and passed/tabled by the Women’s council which will in turn now go the Governing Council prior to Grand Council for presentation and ratification on 24/25 August 2021 at Eagle Island, Ebb and Flow. There have been online consultations with members of the territory and when it is safe, in person information and an opportunity for members to engage in the law development process. Please look for upcoming engagement sessions online and in person in your local nation. The next regularly scheduled meeting is set for June 23, 2021.
