Waawaashkeshi Circle

Treaty 2 Territory – The Waawaashkeshi Circle of Peacemaking is centered in the value of humility. The value of humility ensures equality among all nation members. Humility teaches the hurt of one is the hurt of all, the honor of one is the honour of all. To restore peace and harmony in the nation, the Deer Circle will provide restorative peacemaking services that promote equality, interconnection, the repairing of relationships, and making amends for one’s behavior.

 

The Waawaashkeshi Circle is responsible for restorative peacemaking services that promotes lateral kindness. Peacemakers provide support to participants with their wellness plans, mediation services, healing circles, sharing circles, family conferences, restoratives measures, and family group conferencing. The Waawaashkeshi Circle monitors community service work, wellness plan progress, and provides information and clarity on restorative peacemaking processes. In addition, the provide referrals to the Eagle Circle for wellness activities.  

 

Anishinaabe from the Treaty 2 Territory may request services from this Circle at any time through a self-referral, or a referral from family, one of the seven circles of Peacemaking, a community resource, leadership, or a local Elder. The Peacemaker will arrange for local resources to gather to hold a wrap around meeting to assist in completing the wellness plan.
