Treaty 2 Territory – The nation of Dauphin River will now be called by the anishanaabe name of “ Kithithkatchewanung” Anishanaabe Nation as told by Chief John Stagg on August 26,2021 as part of the kick off of treaty days in the nation. There was a sign unveiling and ribbon cutting ceremony attended by members of the nation including leaders from other nations and knowledge keepers. There were speeches and honoring ceremonies done at the school for invited guests and past chiefs of Kitthithkatchwanung. They were given star blankets in recognition of past and present leaders.
There were giveaways and information booklets on First Nations in Treaty 2 Government, an information booth was put up to inform members of the FNT2T and what the government is doing for all members of the Treaty 2 Territory. A delicious supper of roast moose meat and potatoes with bannock was served to all. FNT2T staff would like to thank Emery Stagg for taking them out on the lake for a beautiful ride on his pontoon boat, it was a great ride. The events continued with a gospel jam for the weekend and next week the treaty day events will be starting. All members are encouraged to come out and participate.
