Peguis crowned Champions at Treaty 2 Territory’s Annual Battle of the Nations Golf Tournament

September 20, 2021

Treaty 2 Territory – A hot and sunny day at the beautiful Gilbert Plains Country Club golf course, brought out the best of the best!  The annual tournament was held on September 18, 2021 at Gilbert Plains Country Club.  With a total of 40 teams, Peguis’ Kevin Mckay, Derek Bear, Lolly Sinclair, and Darryl Bear came out on top.

Darryl Bear got a hole in one on the 9th (pictured above), which also counted as a CP (closest to pin).  We could hear the celebration all the way at the club house, and a number of us came to greet and congratulate Mr. Bear

The women’s category was held on September 17, 2021.  The defending Champs from Tootinaowaziibeeng, Jacqueline Ironstand, Caroline Mintuck, Jasmine Ironstand, and Rena Ironstand were the lone entry for the day but came out and had a great time! (pictured below)

Next year we plan to have another women’s category as well as a singles category. It was my first time experiencing a golf tournament, and it did not disappoint.  I met a lot of new people, as well as seen some old friends.

Huuuge Miigwech to all that attended, and we hope to have you all back next year! Another huuuge Miigwech going out to our hole sponsors, Embroidery by Design, Parkland Sports and Marine, and MNP Dauphin.

Miigwech to Chief Barry McKay, Ray Mousseau, Dakota Marsden, Amanda Kubrakovich and last but not least the brains of the operation, Scott Lynxleg who is also celebrating his 55th trip around the sun today! Happy Birthday Scott!
