Treaty 2 Government welcomes the Sports and Recreation Circle

September 20, 2021

Treaty 2 Territory – September 2021 marks the beginning of a new chapter for FNT2T with the start of the Sports and Recreation Circle.  Craig Beaulieu, a proud member of Kakakwekejeong (Ebb and Flow) First Nation has been brought in to get the ball rolling!

“Sports has always been a major part of my life, having raised 2 elite athletes myself I know personally that sports can be life changing for a young mind.”  Craig explains.  His background in Hockey, Football, and Baseball and his network within the communities are a definite asset to the team.

FNT2T Sports and Recreation are in the planning stages of the Treaty 2 Territory Minor Hockey Association, and hopes to have all 11 nations (and more) involved in the inaugural season.

“We are well aware that rinks are few and far between in our communities, but we have a few with amazing facilities and we plan to utilize them in a sharing atmosphere.  I am hoping to bring pride back to our communities through sports and recreation, we have some amazing talented youth in our communities, some just don’t know it yet” He added.

With winter fast approaching, Craig has high hopes to have a shortened inaugural season starting at the beginning of December or January, with a championship weekend in Dauphin, MB in late March 2022.

Sports and Recreation will also be hosting Treaty 2 Territory Summer Games in 2022, be on the look out for updates in the coming months.
