Treaty 2 Territory – Obushkudayang Nation (Lake St. Martin) held their Annual Health Fair on October 13 and 14. The first day was under a big tent but with rainy weather it was moved to the school. It was well attended by the members. There were numerous booths set up for the members to gather information on the health programs in the nation. FNT2T was also in attendance with an information booth and gave members information and giveaways.
There were also guest speakers from the Treaty Commission of Manitoba. Dr. Harry Bone and Florence Paynter spoke to the children and adults about the importance of treaties and language. They encouraged all to learn more about treaties and to not lose the language in the nation. The children enjoyed attending all the booths and the prizes along with a delicious meal of chili and bannock provided by the school. It was a fun filled and well attended two days for the members. FNT2T would like to thank Merv Sinclair and the health department for the invite to attend this great event.
