Gambler Nation and FNT2T participate in a day of reconciliation in treaty 2 territory

November 17, 2021

Treaty 2 Territory – A day of reconciliation between the St. Lazare school and Gambler First Nation took place on November 16, 2021 with the raising of a tee pee at the St. Lazare School. Chief Ledoux and members of the Gambler nation were in attendance along with all the children and staff of St. Lazare school. Earth Lodge Keeper Allen Sutherland sang a drum song and spoke about the raising of the tee pee and some teachings that go with a tee pee. This event is one of two that has happened in the local school division with more planned in the future. The staff and students will be using the tee  pee to learn and be educated on the history and culture of the indigenous people that were in the area.

It was a great day of reconciliation in treaty 2 territory. FNT2T would like to thank the St. Lazare school for leading this event and for Chief Dave Ledoux for inviting FNT2T to be part of this positive event. Please look for upcoming reconciliation events in your area.
