Treaty 2 Territory – The role of the Lynx Circle Keeper is to oversee the Lynx Circle (Early Intervention and Prevention) which is one of the Seven Circles of Peacemaking.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
o Leads in the implementation of the Lynx Circle, primary function is with Early Intervention and prevention, communication, education and awareness, and support services.
o Conducts engagement sessions with local Nations, assists in implementation and delivery of the Lynx Circle;
o Establishes partnerships with external entities, consults with Local Nations in the Treaty 2 Territory, and communicates with local nations on implementation;
o Ensures the work plan, proposals(s), reports to the Peacemaking Keeper and partnerships are completed in a timely manner;
o Accountable for the overall administration of the Lynx Circle and provides transparency and reporting as required;
o Ensures the Local Nations in the Treaty 2 Territory are kept up to date on Peacemaking;
o Reports and performs other related duties as assigned by the Peacemaking Keeper and Peacemaking Administration Keeper with the Government of FNT2T.
COMPETENCIES AND QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMTED TO:
o Post Secondary Education degree, diploma or certification or a combination of acceptable combination of education, training, and a minimum of 2 years in experience in the field.
o Knowledge of Justice legislation, Restorative Justice programs, inherent laws and policy development.
o Excellent interpersonal communication skills and ability to work as a team player to effectively interact with elected officials, staff, service providers, and government agencies.
o Knowledge of Anishinaabe language and understanding of culture and tradition an asset.
o Knowledge of Share-Point, Microsoft Teams, and Zoom meeting functions.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Must pass a satisfactory criminal records check, child abuse registry check and
vulnerable persons check.
Must maintain absolute confidentiality in accordance with Government of T2T requirements.
Must abide by the Lateral Kindness Law.
Varied amounts of travel required within this position.
Must have a valid Manitoba driver’s license.
Must be able to provide own vehicle for work.
Other duties related to the position may be assigned.
