Treaty 2 Territory – The FNT2T Youth Council met virtually on January 31, 2022, for the first time in 2022. There were youth representatives from the nations of Pinaymootang, Keeseekoowenin, Lake Manitoba, Pine Creek, Ebb and Flow. Council member Bradley Burns of Keeseekoowenin gave the opening prayer for the gathering. Council member Leroy Thompson from Little Saskatchewan was also in attendance. The agenda items discussed:
- Youth summer and winter games
- Peacemaking update
- CFN update
- CPNW update
- Language
Updates were given to the youth council by FNT2T circle keepers. The youth council members wanted language to be forefront in all engagements and to be promoted in their home nations. Youth Council Chair Tyrone Desjarlias spoke of how important it was for the youth to be involved and to be busy in their nations by participating in local sports for the youth. The FNT2T youth council meet to discuss all issues involving the youth in the territory and using sports to get the youth involved and learn their cultural ways of the anishanaabe lifestyle.
