February 16, 2022

Treaty 2 Territory – The FNT2T Governing Council met in person on February 15,2022 to begin next steps talks with respect to Peacemaking and Children, Families and Nation law development. There was leadership from Keeseekoowenin, Little Saskatechewan, Ebb and Flow, Lake St. Martin, Gambler, Pine Creek and Lake Manitoba. Knowledge Keeper Florence Wood of Lake St. Martin gave the opening and closing prayers for a good meeting and safety for all in the nations. There were two items on the agenda:

  • Peacemaking
  • Children, Families and Nation

Chantel Barker Peacemaking Keeper updated the council on Peacemaking and the steps moving forward to have our own peacemaking system in each of our nations. Lois Stoll CFN Keeper also gave an update to the council on the children, families and nation law and the steps forward in taking control of our children and bringing them home. There was much discussion on how FNT2T and the nations move forward and prepare to bring our children home, with each nation developing their own system for their nation. There will be an upcoming gathering to move forward with the CFN law in each nation. FNT2T would like to thank the leadership for coming together for the children in each of their nations to give guidance and support. Please look for upcoming events and engagements coming to your nation. Stay safe.
