Treaty 2 Territory – On February 24, 2022, the FNT2T Men’s Council and the Youth Council met in person and online at the FNT2T government office. There were representatives from Skownan, Lake Manitoba, Tootinaowaziibeeng, Pinaymootang, Ebb and Flow, Kithithkatchewaung, Keeseekoowenin, Gamblers, Pine Creek, Ochichakosipi, Little Saskatchewan and Lake St. Martin. These representatives were youth and leadership, along with Knowledge keepers. Mervin Sinclair of Lake St. Martin gave the opening prayer. Agenda items for discussion were:

  • CFN/Peacemaking
  • CPNW circle – briefing note
  • Climate Change
  • Regional Offices

Chantel Barker Peacemaking keeper updated the councils on the peacemaking process and the steps moving forward to develop our own court system in our nations and territory. Lois Stoll CFN keeper updated the councils on the children, families and nations law development and bringing our children home to our nations. Merv Sinclair gave an update on the Regional offices and the engagement process for the constitution development in each nation. Ron Missyabit Care and Protection of the Natural World Keeper also gave an update to the councils on the projects that the CPNW are currently involved in. Part of this update was gathering information from the nations in climate change and how it has changed in the past decades. This is being done through video recording and the data collected will be used to develop a plan for climate change in our territory moving forward. There will be engagements in the nations when safe to do so, to give the treaty 2 members a chance to give their input into these projects. Please look for upcoming notices and events in your nation. Please stay safe.
