FNT2T Knowledge Council gather in Pinaymootang to discuss peacemaking, children, families and nation, and law development

Treaty 2 Territory – FNT2T Knowledge Council gathered in Pinaymootang at the conference centre on March 9, 2022. There were representatives from the nations of Pinaymootang, Lake St. Martin, Keeseekoowenin, Ebb Flow, Skownan, and Gambler. Knowledge keeper Elsie Marsden from Skownan gave the opening prayer for the gathering. Chief Kurvis Anderson welcomed all to Pinaymootang, along with his council. Chief Adrian Sinclair was also present for the meeting. The agenda items for discussion:

  • Onankonehkawin
  • Terms of Reference
  • Peacemaking
  • Children, Families, and Nation

Lead Keeper Boh Kubrovich updated the council on the Onankonehkawin and the latest developments of the law of FNT2T government. Terms of Reference for the Knowledge council was also discussed. Chantel Barker Peacemaking Keeper gave an update to the council on Peacemaking process and the steps going forward to develop our own peacemaking system in the Treaty 2 nations. Children, Families, and Nation keeper Lois Stoll also gave the council an update on the bringing our children home law development and the engagement of the members in each of the nations. There was much discussion on the children, families and nation and the steps moving forward. The Knowledge council meets regularly to give guidance and input on law development, resolutions to the councils. Please look for upcoming engagement sessions in your nation. Please stay safe.
