Winter/Summer Games in Treaty 2 Territory discussed at FNT2T Youth Council gathering in Pinaymootang

Treaty 2 Territory – FNT2T Youth Council met in person and online at the Pinaymootang Conference Centre in Pinaymootang Nation on March 21, 2022.  Tyrone Desjarlias of Ebb and Flow Nation gave an opening prayer for a good meeting and travel home. There were representatives from Lake Manitoba, Lake St. Martin, Keeseekoowenin, Pinaymootang, Ochichakosipi, Tootinaowaziibeeng, and Skownan. The meeting was chaired by Kristian Stagg of Pinaymootang. The items up for discussion were:

  • Winter/Summer games
  • Peacemaking
  • Next steps moving forward.

The council discussed the planning and dates of the upcoming FNT2T winter and summer games that will be hosted in the territory in a nation to be determined. A variety of sports was proposed and the council will take the games proposal back to their nations for input by their youth and leadership. Chantel Barker Peacemaking Keeper gave an update to the council and went through the engagement survey for peacemaking circle. This survey will be sent to the members in each nation for input into the peacemaking process. The next meeting will be set for April 28/22 in Ebb and Flow Nation. The youth council meets regularly to give guidance and input to FNT2T government. Please look for upcoming notices and engagements in your nation.
